2018 Raffle Supporting
Local Ithaca Aviation
As pilots, we hear from people all the time: “I’d love to learn to fly!” or “My son or daughter has loved airplanes since they were little!” or “I’m a pilot, but haven’t flown in years.” For most, the lack of time, money, motivation and opportunity all conspire to keep that dream of flight from becoming a reality. We came up with the Aspire To Fly Raffle as a way to make the dream happen – both for the Grand Prize winner and for everyone else who will benefit from the Foundation’s educational activities. . The Grand Prize will be in the form of a credit with EHFC to cover all or most of the costs of becoming a pilot. Or if the winner is already a pilot, the prize might enable gaining a new pilot rating, getting back into flying, or just staying current. The official raffle rules are here. It’s our goal to make the Raffle an annual event to coincide with the Father’s Day Fly-In Breakfast sponsored by EHFC. The Raffle proceeds will be used in our aviation scholarship program to support young people who wish to pursue their pilot’s license. Purchasing a Raffle ticket is the perfect Father’s Day (or belated Mother’s Day) gift. In addition to our Grand Prize, our second prize is a Lucky 7 choice and the third prize is an Apple iPad Mini.
The mission of the East Hill Aviation Foundation (EHAF) is to provide educational support and other opportunities to those interested in aviation, both as a career and an avocation. We do this by providing aviation education scholarships, educational equipment and materials, , and other support through the East Hill Flying Club (EHFC) in Ithaca, NY. EHAF scholarships may cover instructor fees, airplane rental, ground school, and other relevant services provided by EHFC. EHAF may also fund, lease, donate, or otherwise provide resources to EHFC or other organizations providing aviation services that are aligned with EHAF’s mission. We are a registered 501(c)3 and most donations are tax deductible.
Congratulations to Elizabeth on her solo...and wining our inaugural flight scholarship! Please consider a donation to our foundation to further our work with young people in aviation!
East Hill Flying Club started to push hard to support and grow the participation of young people with the Take Flight Exhibit we sponsored at the Sciencenter. Not only did they get an astronaut to come to our banquet that year they attracted some talented young people to East Hill. Elizabeth Sharp was one of those who was inspired to pursue aviation by attending this exhibit. She subsequently twice attended the Eileen Collins Aerospace Camp in Elmira and joined EHFC as a Junior Member and became part of our Aviation Explorers. Liz soloed yesterday shortly after her 16th birthday. This was thanks to lots of talent and hard work (and a scholarship from a generous member). We recently awarded Liz a scholarship to allow her to complete her private pilot training at East Hill. Please help grow this initiative with a donation to our foundation.
